BACKGROUNDS
Environment design created while taking Cynthia Halley's Drawing for Film and Television class. The prompt was to create an environment that the "character" in this scenario was going into grandpa's attic to see what kind of nautical themed adventures the grandpa used to go on. The spin I put on the prompt was to turn the grandpa into a sea monster hunter. The image below the final render shows some alternative layout thumbnails and lighting passes and a look into my process for drawing a piece like this.
Plein Air painting I created of the lily pad pond near the entrance of the Huntington Library. I wanted to experiment with using more textures while rendering. This was one of the results.
An environment drawn and colored for a client. The thumbnail sketch can be seen on the bottom right.
Shoebox of the Evil Lair area for my short film Meowtch Maker. The shoebox is illustrated in a similar way to how the backgrounds in the short are painted so the background painters can get a feel for how their backgrounds should be painted.
